Adhesives for the health sector
- Bonds that keep cold chain packaging safe and secure
- Adhesives for PPE
- Аdhesives for the non-woven and hygiene industry
The last months very challenging for all businesses, but particularly for those working in healthcare and in the supply of medical products.
We are proud that our highly-effective adhesive solutions are being used worldwide for many applications to aid and support this industry in some small, but secure way – whether that is adhesives for PPE, packaging for medical supplies, or for the actual medical apparatus themselves (for example, medical air filters, ostomy care products or diabetes devices).
One such success, due to achieving very specific adhesive requirements, involves two of our grades which are being used in combination for the manufacture of packaging to transport extremely important supplies and pharmaceutical goods for the healthcare sector.
Bonds that keep cold chain packaging safe and secure
Beardow Adams BAMFutura™ packaging and Pressen pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are two highly efficient, thermally stable adhesive types which make them ideal for holding and transporting the likes of temperature-controlled vaccines and medical supplies. This means that the adhesives have proven to be stable and useful at all temperatures.
The BAMFutura grade being used is a high-performance hot melt packaging adhesive which is adhering card to polystyrene in the construction of small, thermally insulated medical boxes. This water white product offers flexibility at low temperatures as well as best-in-class heat resistance.
The other application includes one of our Pressen hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives (HMPSA) which is bonding the expanded polystyrene and card that surrounds larger pallets. The pallets carry the insulated medical boxes. This PSA exhibits excellent cohesive strength and temperature resistance which is very important for this specific application as pallets are transported locally and can be very heavy.
Adhesives for PPE
As the demand for PPE increases, so do our adhesive offers for this type of application. Beardow Adams is pleased to be supporting and aiding customers during their transitions by supplying them with additional adhesives to be used in the manufacture of PPE such as face masks and shields and medical drapes and gowns.
One of our customers for example added to their product offering by opting to manufacture face shields in addition to producing self-adhesive tape using Prodas™ 2278 – one of our semi-pressure sensitive adhesives. Another customer – a packaging producer – opted to manufacture similar products using Prodas™ 1995 – a high adhesion product assembly adhesive. Prodas™ 1995 was originally developed for laminating photobooks together and has also been used to bond ceramic tiles to display boards so it’s very much a multi-use product – just like many of our adhesives.
Аdhesives for the non-woven and hygiene industry
Beardow Adams’s range of adhesives for the non-woven and hygiene industry are reliable, skin-kind and flexible to ensure room for movement. Оur dedicated market-proven adhesives play a crucial role in helping to support and make comfortable those who rely on our products. Whether it be an adhesion promoter within a hydrocolloid dressing, to bond a non-woven material to a medical construction, to secure a medical filter in place or to help provide rigidity to a construction.
We offer both rubber based and polyolefin adhesive compositions across a range of viscosities, supported by relevant skin contact. BAMCare™ is our range of high-performance sustainable hot-melt adhesives for the non-woven industry. Beardow Adams’ BAMCare range covers areas such as feminine hygiene, nappies and incontinence care, wet wipes, medical draping and ostomy care. These adhesives show high adhesion not only to non-woven materials, but also filmic backing sheets and the various other absorbent materials used; they will hold the construction secure throughout its use.
BAMCare is discreet as it’s a water-white product, is a non-irritant on normal skin and has a low odour – ideal for use in ostomy care. This adhesive is manufactured in our EcoBlock™ format which allows it to be used in a broad range of hot melt tank equipment.
