Water-Repellent Coating for Corrugated Cardboard Production

Key Functions

1. Protection against Water and Moisture: Prevents rapid absorption of moisture (from rain, condensation, etc.), which is a critical drawback of ordinary cardboard.
2. Preservation of Strength: When wet, ordinary corrugated cardboard loses its structural integrity, leading to deformation and destruction of the packaging. The coating helps maintain rigidity and compression resistance even in a humid environment, which is important for stacking and transportation.
3. Extended Service Life: Treated packaging is more durable and can be used for storing goods in humid rooms or cold storage.
4. Expanded Scope of Use: Allows corrugated cardboard to be used for moist products (fresh produce, meat) or goods requiring protection from external influences (electronics, pharmaceuticals).

Application Recommendations

Method: The water-repellent composition is applied to the surface of the corrugated sheet using rollers, for example, on flexographic machines.

Preparation:
– Ensure the equipment contacting the product is clean.
– Stir the product for 1–2 minutes immediately before use, as slight sedimentation (no more than 1%) is allowed.
– Important: Diluting the coating with water or other solvents is unacceptable!

Seasonal Usage:
– In cold seasons, adapt the product to the production site temperature for 12–24 hours before work.
– Viscosity depends on temperature; below 15 \text{ °C}, viscosity increases.
– Seasonal viscosity adjustments (winter/summer) can be coordinated with our technical service if desired.

Equipment Maintenance:
– Try to prevent the product from fully polymerizing (drying completely) on equipment parts.
– Upon completion of work or during stops, wash parts immediately with warm water or a special cleaner.
– Since water-based printing inks have a similar polymer base, we recommend using soft cleaners designed for cleaning clichés and rollers from water-based inks and offset varnishes.
